LOT Polish Airlines, a company known presently in many countries worldwide, was established almost 75 years ago – on January 1st, 1929. LOT – one of the oldest airlines – has come a long way since its first aircraft Junkers, designed for several seats, and yearly carriage of several hundred passengers, until present days. In 2002 LOT carried over 3.4 million passengers, successfully competing with other airlines in respect of modern equipment, convenience of connections and the quality of service.
On October 26th, 2003 LOT Polish Airlines will become a full-right member of Star Alliance – world’s biggest airline alliance. That will mean not only access to global network covering 700 destination in 128 countries, but also comprehensive and efficient service for passengers travelling aboard the Alliance’s airlines all over the world.
Network and fleet
Due to the transformation of Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport into a hub, LOT Polish Airlines significantly increased the number of its connections. Consequently, the passengers travelling via Warsaw benefit from convenient onward departures and shorter transit times. Thanks to that transformation Warsaw will become an attractive point not only for local travel but for transit travel as well. The present network of LOT Polish Airlines scheduled flights covers 48 cities in Europe and beyond, plus 12 within Poland.
The LOT Fleet is one of the world’s youngest and comprises 51 aircraft.
